About the Opportunity
The Finance Director will lead the finance function for OKX in Malta and across our wider European footprint. Based in Malta, the role holds direct accountability for our regulated European entity, its statutory and prudential reporting, and its relationship with supervisory authorities.
This is a senior role for a finance leader with a long track record in European regulated financial services, who can hold the regulatory line while acting as a commercial partner to the business as it scales across Europe.
What You'll Be Doing
The role is based in Malta and involves close collaboration with regional and group teams across multiple European jurisdictions. Some flexibility to work across time zones will be required.
  • Lead the finance function for OKX's Malta regulated entity and support the wider European business.
  • Own statutory and regulatory reporting for the entity, including prudential submissions and the accuracy of information filed with supervisory authorities.
  • Act as the senior finance representative in engagement with European regulators, covering routine supervision, information requests, examinations and remediation.
  • Own the regulatory finance agenda across the regimes the business operates under, including MiCA, payment institution and electronic money institution requirements, MiFID investment services and banking.
  • Manage prudential obligations, including own funds, capital adequacy, liquidity and the safeguarding of customer funds.
  • Lead the finance workstream for new licence applications, authorisations and expansion into additional European markets.
  • Deliver core financial control across IFRS and local statutory reporting, month-end close, external audit and treasury.
  • Lead planning, forecasting, budgeting and unit economics, and provide the analysis behind pricing, investment and market-entry decisions.
  • Partner with the European leadership team, supporting growth while constructively challenging commercial plans.
  • Build, lead and develop the finance team in Malta, and represent finance to the board, auditors and regulators.
What We Look For In You
  • 15+ years of finance experience in European financial services, including significant time in a senior finance leadership role.
  • Direct accountability for the finance function of a regulated European entity, covering statutory reporting, prudential submissions and supervisory engagement.
  • A track record with European regulators across authorisation, regulatory reporting, examination or remediation.
  • Regulatory experience in two or more of the following: MiCA and crypto-asset services, payment institutions and electronic money institutions, MiFID investment services, and banking.
  • Strong working knowledge of the European payments and digital finance framework, including PSD2, the evolving PSD3 and PSR framework, safeguarding, own funds, liquidity and prudential reporting.
  • Experience operating across multiple European jurisdictions within a group structure.
  • Deep expertise in IFRS, local statutory reporting, consolidation, external audit and month-end close.
  • Strong commercial finance capability across planning, forecasting, unit economics, pricing, investment appraisal and scenario analysis.
  • A record of financial analysis shaping product economics, pricing, market entry or resource allocation.
  • Experience building and leading finance teams, with the presence to communicate confidently with boards, auditors and regulators.
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or an equivalent professional qualification.
Nice to Haves
  • Familiarity with MFSA rules and expectations, and with Malta Tax Authority reporting requirements.
  • Experience across more than one regulated model, such as banking, payments and investment services.
  • Previous experience at a crypto exchange, payments institution, fintech organisation or bank operating at high transaction volumes.
  • Experience working across time zones and multicultural teams.
